Caregivers for people with dementia often feel stressed. There are any number of reasons for caregiver stress, not limited to increased responsibilities, financial concerns, emotional hardship, or difficult behaviors. Though this is an effect of caregiving that’s hard to avoid, it can be managed or lessened. The Alzheimer’s Association provides a list of possible stress symptoms (such as anger, exhaustion, and difficulty focusing) and addresses them with tips that can help reduce their impact (like taking advantage of caregiver resources and support, staying physically active, and planning ahead).
