Caregivers are crucial to the well-being, everyday life, and ultimate livelihood of individuals diagnosed with dementia. They provide support and aid where diagnosed people find themselves lacking in ability or mental acuity. Brodaty & Donkin (2009) outline the nature of care, impacts of providing care, factors that predict and protect against the effects, caregiver support, care homes, and interventions. Of the caregiver effects, they explain burden, psychological and physical morbidity, social isolation, and financial strain.
