Incorrect Conceptions of Dementia

In large part due to the way dementia is represented in the media, the average person holds misconceptions about its various diseases. StoriiCare addresses this fact, noting the most common false or incomplete views of people with dementia. One significant misconception is that dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease are synonymous, even though Alzheimer’s Disease is actually under the umbrella term of dementia. Fortunately, with knowledge of these inaccurate representations, people can become better informed before they or a loved one are confronted with a dementia diagnosis. With more accurate information, they may also approach those they encounter with dementia with respect and dignity (where otherwise they might not have).
