Just one alteration in the layout of a room can make all the difference for someone with dementia. It can mean not getting confused where the restroom is or where they can find their clothes. The Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI) explored this concept by displaying changes in room layouts, such as a bed facing the doorway to the bathroom in order to be clearly visible for the person living there. They believe that seemingly simple changes in design can significantly improve the quality of life for individuals with dementia.
