Though caregiving for a person with dementia may bring stress and emotional strain, the role does provide carers extended quality time with their loved one. This provides an opportunity to put together a life story in video or written form, or compile memories in a scrapbook or journal. That way, these memories can be cherished and reminisced about even after the loved one does not recall the details. In two articles about preserving memories and recording a life story, StoriiCare guides family members and caregivers in the best ways to do those activities with seniors and people with dementia. It also explains how helpful it can be for care receivers, who often feel a stronger sense of security and identity when carers recognize the value of their favorite recollections.
